Lagun
Lagun is a quiet village about 25-30 km from Willemstad. The locals are friendly and helpful. You will not find casinos, large hotels or discos in Lagun. Many people choose to stay in Lagun precisely because of the tranquility and beautiful unspoilt nature. That is precisely the tourist attraction of Lagun and we will endeavor to preserve the authenticity of Lagun as much as possible. You really have to be in Willemstad for the vibrant nightlife. We must not forget that we are guests at a bay that has been used by the locals for a long time. For example, swimming lessons are given to schoolchildren almost every day.
Every day the fishermen from Lagun set sail and for most fishermen this is their only source of income. This fish can of course be bought fresh, directly from the fishermen. We would therefore like to remind our guests to handle this with respect, because this is often overlooked.
Bahia Diving (SSI/PADI Dive Center) is located directly on the complex, a local minimarket, a church 300 meters away and a Chinese takeaway 400 meters away. At Bahia Restaurant you can have a delicious lunch throughout the day and possibly a bite to eat at the end of the day.
Several dining options with daily specials and pizzas are approximately a 10-minute drive away. There are two small supermarkets at a distance of a few kilometers. There is a large supermarket close to Willemstad, where even Dutch products are available. Also close by are the bays of Santa Cruz, Playa Jeremi and Knip Bay. The latter is certainly one of the most beautiful bays in Curaçao!
Most houses along the coast are second homes. It is a bit busier at the weekend because the owners of these "Weekend Houses" come from Willemstad. Both Willemstad and Hato International Airport are approximately a 30-40 minute drive away. In addition, a bus runs to Willemstad and back twice an hour.
Beach
Bahia Apartments & Diving is located directly on the bay of Lagun. You can reach the beach through Bahia's terrace. The beach is public and therefore belongs to everyone. There are plenty of shaded areas and to make you completely comfortable you can make free use of the beach beds and beach chairs on the beach.
Every day the fishermen of Lagun go out to sea and trade their catch on the beach. You can buy fresh fish and the price is very favorable.
There is plenty to see on the beach and there are always local activities. Local residents and tourists meet each other and the contacts are always pleasant and friendly. If you are looking for mass and commercial events, then you have come to the wrong place in Lagun. Topless sunbathing is not appreciated and remember that you are the guest of a very hospitable country.
